Profile Rahmat Hassan was born in Kano - Nigeria in 1952. She started her education in Nigeria and came to London in 1989 to study for a Masters degree in Maternal and Child Health in the University of London. In 1996 while studying for her PhD, she started working with a charity organization focusing on women's reproductive health and rights issues. Through this organization, she worked in many countries in Africa helping women to improve their livelihood and that of their communities. In 2003, she set up a non-profit organization.
